Our Product Story

So Whats in a Glazed Brick?....

Apart from lots of time, skill and huge amounts of TLC!...

Well......Our earthen clays are sourced from unique commercial clay stocks which make up the five different components in our main body. These clays are acurrately mixed, ground and screened to give the fine clay consistency which is necessary to produce a tile quality brick. This clay is then dried so the glaze application process can begin.

Turning up the heat...

We use 4 kilns of varying sizes. The largest kiln is used mostly to make special shape products for other brick companies. Our clays are fired and then all bricks undergo a controlled cooldown process which eventually returns then to ambient temperature.

Light at the end of the tunnel.....

When our bricks are packed off the kiln cars, each one is visually inspected for  cracks and guaged for size.
The bricks are packed onto pallets with a gap left between all glazed faces (as a precaution for transportation) and a sheet of cardboard between each brick layer then wrapped ready for shipping.

And the cycle continues.....

And once layed they end up looking like this.
